Jeondeungsa Temple was lost to two series of fire after its establishment in 381, and it was reconstructed in 1625 during the third year of King Injo's reign. It gained state protection by the Joseon royal family when it began storing The Annals of the Joseon dynasty from 1678, the fourth year of King Sukjong's reign. There are two ginkgo trees that are over 600 years old within the temple premises.
